New Delhi: Businessman-philanthropist Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, died on Wednesday night in Mumbai. He was 86 years of age. Tributes poured in from all sections of society. President Droupadi Murmi, Prime Minister Minister expressed grief over the demise of the Industrialist.
Ratan Tata was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital on Monday after his condition deteriorated due to age-related health issues. On Wednesday, the industrialist was admitted to the intensive care unit care unit (ICU) after his blood pressure dropped, as per reports.
PM Modi Expresses Condolences:
"Ratan Tata Ji was a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being. He provided stable leadership to one of India's oldest and most prestigious business houses. At the same time, his contribution went far beyond the boardroom. He endeared himself to several people thanks to his humility, kindness and an unwavering commitment to making our society better," he said.
"Extremely pained by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family, friends and admirers in this sad hour. Om Shanti," PM Modi said in the post.
Remebering the indutrialist for championing issues like education and animal welfare, PM Modi said, "One of the most unique aspects of Shri Ratan Tata Ji was his passion towards dreaming big and giving back. He was at the forefront of championing causes like education, healthcare, sanitation, animal welfare to name a few."
"My mind is filled with countless interactions with Shri Ratan Tata Ji. I would meet him frequently in Gujarat when I was the CM. We would exchange views on diverse issues. I found his perspectives very enriching. These interactions continued when I came to Delhi. Extremely pained by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family, friends and admirers in this sad hour. Om Shanti," he added.

Remembering Rata Tata
Born on December 28, 1937, Ratan Naval Tata was an Indian industrialist, philanthropist, and the former chairman of Tata Sons. He led the Tata Group from 1990 to 2012, serving as interim chairman from October 2016 to February 2017.
He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Cornell University and succeeded JRD Tata as chairman of Tata Sons upon JRD's retirement in 1991.
In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honour, in 2008, following the Padma Bhushan in 2000.
