Mumbai: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) is set to unveil its next big housing lottery, offering around 20,000 affordable homes across Mumbai, its surrounding cities, and Pune. These homes aim to provide affordable housing to the economically weaker sections (EWS) and low-income groups (LIG) of society.
Sanjeev Jaiswal, CEO and vice president of MHADA, announced that the housing draw will include 12,000 affordable homes from the Konkan Housing Board, as per a HT report. This draw will cover the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), which includes areas like Thane, Vasai, and Virar. The cost of these homes will range between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 1 crore, depending on the location and type of home.
In addition to this, MHADA is planning to release around 4,000 to 5,000 affordable homes in Pune, with the lottery announcement expected in the coming days.
Plans for Future Housing Projects
Jaiswal also revealed that MHADA will hold two more lotteries for affordable homes in March and June 2025, with 2,000 to 3,000 homes to be offered in Mumbai. Furthermore, MHADA is in the process of awarding a contract to construct 2,000 affordable homes on the land of Patra Chawl in Mumbai. This is part of the authority’s long-term plan to boost affordable housing across Maharashtra.
MHADA has already handed over possession of 30,000 affordable homes through nine lotteries conducted across Maharashtra in cities like Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nashik, Sambhaji Nagar, and Nagpur.
Targeting 50,000 Affordable Homes in Five Years
In August 2024, MHADA announced its ambitious plan to build a stock of 50,000 affordable homes in Mumbai over the next five years. These homes will be sold through upcoming lotteries, with the goal of holding at least two housing draws every year.
MHADA serves as the nodal agency for constructing affordable homes in Maharashtra and plays a key role in executing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in the state.
Latest Lottery Results Announced

The homes are located in areas like Goregaon, Vikhroli, Powai, Borivali, Kandivali, Malad, Antop Hill, Juhu, and South Mumbai.
