Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police have arrested a man named Parvez, who is accused of helping 22 Pakistani citizens settle in Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka by using Hindu names, according to police sources on Tuesday.
The case came to light when four members of a family, who were Pakistani citizens, were arrested in Jigani on the outskirts of Bengaluru. After their arrest and questioning, three more Pakistani citizens were detained in the Peenya area of the city. During their interrogation, it was discovered that a few other Pakistanis were living in Karnataka’s Davangere district, and they have also been taken into custody.
The investigation revealed that Parvez had been assisting these individuals in obtaining official documents under false names. Police sources stated, "We have secured him, and an investigation is ongoing."
Few days ago, a Pakistani man, along with his wife and two children, was arrested near Jigani in Bengaluru Rural. This arrest was made after central agencies tipped off the police about the family's suspicious activities. Reports suggest that the man's wife is from Bangladesh. The couple met and got married in Dhaka. They are believed to have illegally entered India in 2014 and later moved to Bengaluru in 2018. Police have found that the family used fake documents to stay in the country.
Karnataka Home Minister and Congress leader G. Parameshwara commented on the situation then, "As per the information I have received, they have been in India for 10 years. It's been one year since they came to Bangalore. They've taken 3-4 people into custody. They'll investigate them and ascertain why they came here. There is information that they were here for 10 years. I am not sure. That'll be probed. If they were really here for 10 years, how did intelligence not know about this? They've gone to the extent of getting passports as well. Passports are issued after a lot of scrutiny, and they have managed to get passports as well. They've changed their names and got Aadhar cards as well. Let's see what further information comes out."
