Jungkook enlisted to complete his mandatory military service with his fellow bandmate Jimin in December 2023. They enlisted together as part of South Korea's companion system, which allows soldiers to serve alongside each other. The duo completed their five-week long basic military training at the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province. Following that, Jungkook reportedly began serving as a cook in the military. He will be discharged from the military in June 2025.
