Over the time, on many occasions, comedian Kapil Sharma has been on the receiving end of criticism. The comedian and his show have faced their fair share of changes over the years, but their popularity has remained steadfast. However, writer Amit Aaryan, known for his work on FIR and ABCD, has sparked controversy with his scathing critique of the show.
Amit Narayan Slams Kapil and his show
In a recent interview, Aaryan labeled Kapil Sharma's show "the worst show in the history of Indian comedy." He cited its reliance on vulgar jokes and tendency to mock vulnerable individuals. He specifically highlighted the character of Sapna, played by Krushna Abhishek, for perpetuating derogatory humor.

Aaryan argued that women are disrespected on the show and that Sharma relies heavily on his supporting cast for success. He stated, "The problem lies in the fact that today's generation lacks exposure to quality comedy, settling for laughter at the expense of others."
Kapil Sharma's show has undergone several transformations since its inception in 2013, from Comedy Nights With Kapil to The Kapil Sharma Show and most recently, The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix.
Despite its enduring popularity, the show's viewership has declined in its second season. The premiere episode featuring Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar garnered over a million views, half of the debut episode's numbers in the first season.
It will be correct to say that Aaryan's criticism has sparked debate about the show's content and impact on Indian comedy.
