Samak Chawal Dosa

Prepared with a blend of simple ingredients, follow these easy steps and enjoy your breakfast.

Ingredients

Dosa

  • 1 cup sama ke chawal
  • ¼ cup sabudama
  • 2 ½ tbsp yoghurt
  • 2 tbsp cilantro
  • 1 medium potato
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ inch ginger
  • 3 cups water

Hariyaali Aloo Masala

  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 10 cashews
  • 5-7 curry leaves
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp roasted cumin powder

Mint Paste

  • 2 tbsp cilantro with tender stems
  • 8 mint leaves
  • ½ inch ginger
  • 1 green chilli

Method

Step 1: Start by roasting the samak rice for 4-5 minutes on medium flame and transfer to a blender along with sabudana, Blitz into a fine powder and store the dosa mix in an airtight container,

Step 2: Transfer to a mixing bowl and stir cumin seeds, sugar, salt, green chillies, ginger and cilantro. In a blender, start by pureeing the potato and yoghurt mixed with water until smooth.

Step 3: Add this mixture to the mixing bowl along with 2 cups of water and give the dosa batter a mix. Allow it to rest for 10 minutes and cook the dosas on a non-stick pan.

Step 4: Pour a ladleful of dosa batter into the pan and smear oil on the sides of the dosa. After you observe brown spots on top of the netting, the dosa is ready to serve. Next, prepare the hariyaali aloo masala by adding oil in a pan.

Step 5: Add cumin seeds, cashews, curry leaves and potatoes. Saute for a few minutes and stir powdered spices. For the cilantro paste, blitz mint, ginger, cilantro leaves and green chillies in a paste.

Step 6: Cook the aloo masala with lemon juice and water on a medium flame. Spread the aloo masala inside the prepared dosa, serve with mint chutney and enjoy!
