BMW India has ended the wait for the M4 CS (Competition Sport) with the launch of the performance sedan at a starting price of Rs 1.89 crore (ex-showroom). The top-of-the-range machine is placed above the M4 Competition and comes with a host of mechanical upgrades over the standard version. All of these changes are aimed at making the sedan better on track and improving its qualities needed for use in regular driving.
The BMW M4 CS now features an upgraded version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six engine used on the standard M4. This unit was also used on the previously used in the limited-run CSL. With this powertrain, the CS model's engine is tuned to deliver 550 horsepower, which is 20 hp more than the M4 Competition, thanks to the turbo pushing more air into the engine. It also generates a torque output of 650 Nm.

The BMW M4 CS can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 3.4 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the Competition. Additionally, it can reach 200 kmph in 11.1 seconds, with a top speed limited to 303 kmph. The eight-speed automatic transmission, transferring power to the all-wheel-drive system, significantly contributes to its performance.
BMW has enhanced the powertrain to withstand longer track sessions by improving the engine's cooling system and boosting the oil supply to the clutch to sustain the performance of the four-wheel-drive system. Exclusive to the CS model, firmer engine mounts have been added to enhance the powertrain's responsiveness.
The Bavarian company has also modified the chassis used on the CS to make it 20 kg lighter than the standard model by incorporating a titanium exhaust silencer and components with carbon fiber-reinforced plastic. There are several tuned changes implemented to enhance steering and wheel control.
