Country singer and actor Kris Kristofferson has died, his family confirmed on Sunday. He was 88 years old.
Kristofferson was married to Lisa Meyers. The two tied the knot in 1983 after the singer's split from his second wife Rita Coolidge. The 88-year-old had eight children from his marriages and relationships: His eldest two children, Tracy (born 1962) and Kris Jr. (born 1968), are from his first marriage to Fran Beer.
He then had one daughter, Casey (born 1974), with singer-songwriter Rita Coolidge during their marriage.
Kristofferson's third marriage to Lisa Meyers brought him five more children: Jesse (born 1983), Jody (born 1985), Johnny (born 1988), Kelly Marie (born 1990), and Blake Cameron (born 1994).
Kristofferson, an Oxford scholar was born to a Texas based family in the year 1936. His father was a high ranked soldier in the U.S. Air Force. Due to the nature of his job, the family had to change places on a frequent basis. But amid all of this, Kristofferson was a study freak and a poem lover who was always indulged in studying. With a strong intent of becoming an author, he grew up and went to study in Oxford University, England.
