Asheville, North Carolina seems to be the worst-hit town after Hurricane Helene. The settlement lying in the Blue Ridge Mountains is submerged under water and is facing a major power and water outage. Flights to and from Asheville airport have been canceled as Delta and United Airlines announced that they will be able to resume operation only on Monday.

A North Carolina county that includes Asheville reported that 30 people were killed due to the storm, pushing the overall death toll to over hundred people across several states. Buncombe County Manager Avril Pinder pledged that she would have food and water into Asheville by Monday.

Meanwhile, Asheville mayor Esther Manheimer urged residents to save water. In a statement to News 13, she said that water is the biggest issue right now. She added that the issue is that there has been a loss of the feeder pipes into the city.
