Noida: A 20-year-old domestic help was arrested on Saturday for allegedly stealing Rs 15 lakh in cash from a house in Sector 14, Noida, where she was employed. According to the police, there were no signs of forced entry into the house, and the locks of the cupboard where the money was kept were intact.

The domestic helper, originally from Hardoi, had been working for the Garg family for the past three years and lived in the servant quarters of the house. The complainant, Karan Garg (32), is the owner of electrical equipment manufacturing factories in the Phase 1 area, according to a TOI report.

As per the complaint, Karan and his wife left their home on Thursday evening (September 26) to attend a family function. They left behind Karan's elderly parents, Naresh and Neeru, along with the domestic help.

Senior House Inspector (SHO) Amit Kumar stated, "According to the complainant, the next morning, his mother found the main gate unlocked when she went for her morning walk. Upon suspicion, she checked the cupboard on the second floor and discovered that Rs 15 lakh in cash was missing," as quoted by TOI.

Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered against the domestic help under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 306 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of the master) on Friday.

According to senior officials, the investigation revealed that there were no signs of a break-in, and all doors, locks, gates, and access controls were found intact. Additionally, all three CCTV cameras in the house were switched off at the time of the incident. An official said that police are questioning the domestic help, Shalini, while investigating the case from all angles, the TOI report added.
