Even though Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy stressed that youngsters should work for a 'minimum of 70 hours per week,' Swiggy's Food and Marketplace CEO Rohit Kapoor has promoted 'work-life balance,' adding that employees should spend quality time with their family and loved ones. Kapoor has once again triggered a discussion on social media. During an event in Bengaluru at Techsparks, in conversation with Shradha Sharma, Kapoor asserted that working late some days is fine but not on a daily basis. “But those who say they work till 3 am never mention that they reach the office by 1 pm the next day,” he says in a video.
Kapoor added that he has a huge problem with that culture and urged people to spend time with their families too. He underlined that hard work is necessary, saying that one needs to work “d**n hard” but not to the extent that personal life is sacrificed. The video, which was shared with the title ‘Hustle culture is bulls**t,’ has evoked a flurry of reactions.
“Narayan Murthy getting panic attacks watching this,” wrote an Instagram user, referencing his controversial remark advising youngsters to work 70 hours a week. Echoing the sentiment, another user added, “Narayana Murthy crying in the corner.”

A third user praised Kapoor and said, “Finally, someone talked like a normal person to all of us.”
“More people need to talk about this,” commented a fourth. A fifth expressed, “Finally, someone said this; otherwise, people have been blowing the trumpet of hustle culture.”
