NTR’s Devara is slated for release on September 27. The action drama features NTR in two roles, a young NTR (Vara), and a veteran NTR. Marathi actress Shruti Marathe played elder NTR’s wife in Devara. During the promotions, the film' s director Koratala Siva revealed the reason why he chose to cast her.
Shruti Marathe As NTR’s Wife
While Janhvi Kapoor played young NTR’s love interest, Marathi actress Shruti Marathe played elder NTR’s wife in Devara. In his recent interview, director Koratala was asked the reason for casting Shruti Marathe in the action entertainer. The director stated that he doesn’t want an actress to look like a second heroine in the film. He further added that he was searching for an actress who complements Devara’s personality. He clarified that had he cast any reputed actor perhaps their baggage (image) would have sidelined the role.
“I always wanted to cast an actress who doesn’t give any impression like a second heroine. Instead, I was searching for an actress who complements Devara’s image and his onscreen personality. The actress should have a realistic appeal yet give a fresh makeover to the part,” Koratala Siva.
'Don't Want An Actress With Baggage'
The director further adds, “But had I cast any familiar actress or a star with baggage, perhaps their image would have dominated the character. There was a chance that the character would have diluted the impact. When you Shruti Marathe in the film you will be convinced that she’s the right choice for the part. She has done a great job,” Siva further explained.
