Ace India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has said that since he and Shubman Gill have an excellent relationship off the field, it became easy for both of them to translate it into a successful partnership on the field in the first Test against Bangladesh. The match-winning stand between the two youngsters can thus be owed to the great bond that the duo share beyond the 22 yards.
After both Pant and Gill couldn't make an impact in the first innings, they conjured a 167-run partnership during the second innings.
After getting together at 67/3 in the 20th over with senior batter Virat Kohli having departed after a mistaken decision, Pant and Gill built a massive partnership for the fourth wicket to take the match away from Bangladesh's grasp virtually. Both of them scored centuries.

"When you have a great relationship outside the field, it helps to bat with that guy. We had fun, chatted, talked about the game and stayed relaxed. At the end of the day, we both knew what we wanted to do," Pant said while speaking to BCCI.

Pant's video of asking Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto to place a fielder at a certain position went viral on social media and drew a lot of laughs over the Indian wicketkeeper's antics. Pant reacted to it and said jokingly said he was trying to help Bangladesh
"The understanding of the game for me is that cricket should improve wherever you play. So, I was trying to help the team that you can set a fielder here and it was amazing. I enjoyed it," Pant grinned.

The hundred was special for the Indian wicketkeeper, who was making his return to Tests after 21 months following a horrific car accident that kept him out of the sport for more than a year.
Pant managed an innings of 109 off 128 balls that included 13 boundaries and four sixes, as his knock was a mixture of both attack and defence.
Pant will next be seen in action when India take on Bangladesh in the second Test from September 27 in Kanpur.
