Soori and Anna Ben's recently-released dark horse winner Kottukkaali has won the Grand Prix Award at the 22nd Amur Autumn International Film Festival in Russia. Actor Sivakarthikeyan, who has backed the film under his banner SK Productions, took to his social media handles to announce the news.

A Winner At The Festival Circuit

Kottukkaali has been directed by PS Vinothraj, who last helmed Koozhangal, which won the Tiger Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2021. The film has been garnering accolades and positive feedback at every festival where it has been being screened. The film recently won the Golden Lynx Award for the Best Feature Film at the Portugal International Film Festival. The Golden Lynx Award was an official recognition for the film on the international stage. Kottukkaali was the first Tamil film to premiere at the Berlin Film Festival. The film was also accorded a rave reception at the Transilvania International Film Festival.

Backed By Sivakarthikeyan

Kottukkaali is backed by Actor-producer Sivakarthikeyan under his banner Sivakarthikeyan Productions. Kottukkaali marks Soori’s second film as a lead after Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai. Soori’s performance in the recently-released Garudan too was lauded. For Anna Ben, the film is her debut in Tamil films. Sakthi has handled the cinematography, with Ganesh Siva on editing.
