Digvijay Singh Rathee, who won hearts with his stint on Splitsvilla X5, has now courted controversy with his latest comment. At a recent press meet, Rathee made a remark on body weight that many thought was him body-shaming people. It happened after Digvijay was asked about fitness and self-acceptance.
Digvijay's controversial remarks
Digvijay said, “Agar koi mota hai toh hai (If someone is fat, then they’re fat).” Shreya Karla instantly schooled him saying, “Why make a body-shaming comment in the first place? We don’t know what someone might be going through.” Shubhi Joshi added, “You’re right, someone may be suffering from a physical condition that we don’t know about.”

Despite their objections, Digvijay maintained his stance and argued, “If someone is unhappy with their body weight, they would work on it. If they’re content, then what's the problem with hearing about it? Nobody goes out of their way to call someone fat anyways.”

Digvijay responds
This interaction quickly went viral on social media where Digvijay faced significant backlash for his remarks. Later, Rathee took to his YouTube channel to address the controversy where he clarified that he had no intention of hurting anyone. He also said that his comment was meant to emphasise that people don’t usually go out of their way to insult others Not only that, Digvijay also opened up about his own struggles with body shaming, particularly his skin complexion.
