Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, alongside US President Joe Biden, Japan’s PM Fumio Kishida, and Australia’s PM Anthony Albanese. The summit focused on strengthening strategic cooperation and addressing regional security concerns, particularly tensions in the South and East China Seas. The leaders expressed serious concern over the militarization of disputed areas and reaffirmed their commitment to resolving maritime disputes in accordance with international law.
Before the summit, Modi and Biden met privately to discuss the evolving India-US relationship, during which they shared a warm embrace. Modi also connected with the Indian diaspora in Philadelphia, highlighting their contributions to the United States and announcing his upcoming address at the Modi & US programme in New York City.
During the summit, PM Modi emphasised that the Quad partnership is "here to stay," prioritising a free and inclusive Indo-Pacific. The leaders praised India’s role under Modi’s leadership and discussed plans for deeper maritime cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. Looking ahead, Modi is scheduled to engage with the Indian community in Long Island and chair a roundtable with CEOs from American companies in cutting-edge technologies.
