Karan Johar is returning to direction but this time, with a series for Netflix. The filmmaker, who has the biggest titles under his kitty as a producer, will be reportedly helming a grand show for the OTT giant.
Karan Johar to direct his first web series
According to a news portal’s report, Karan will be directing a web series for the first time. It is a part of his long-standing association with Netflix. The show will be headlined by celebrated female actors.
A source close to the project told Pinkvilla, “After collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Heeramandi, this Karan Johar directorial is the next marquee project in Netflix’s repertoire. Karan will be the showrunner for this yet-untitled web series. The script is locked and the vision is to take it on floors in the first quarter of 2025.”

The source further added, “The web series now begins its casting stage and the idea is to bring together an ensemble of renowned actors. Being a Karan Johar show, the web series is considered to be Netflix's most ambitious upcoming project. It will be shot throughout 2025 and is set to stream in 2026.”
Karan Johar's upcoming projects
Karan Johar celebrated his 25 years as a filmmaker with the release of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in 2023. He returned to the director’s chair after a gap of 7 years.
Under Dharma Productions, Karan is producing films like Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina’s Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala. It releases in theatres on October 11. Akshay Kumar – Ananya Panday’s courtroom drama titled Shankara, Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari are in the pipeline too.
