in first statement as delhi cm, atishi attacks l-g, vows to bring back...

New Delhi: In her first statement after taking oath as the new Chief Minister of Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi launched a scathing attack on LG VK Saxena and the BJP-led central government. She said that it’s an “emotional moment” as Arvind Kejriwal is no longer the Chief Minister of Delhi and asked the people of Delhi to ensure that the AAP national convenor returns to the top post again after the Assembly polls due early next year.

Atishi accused the BJP and the Delhi LG of hatching a "conspiracy" against her predecessor Arvind Kejriwal and implicating hin in false cases. "The BJP implicated him in a false case and did everything to break him," she said, adding, "Since Kejriwal has come out of jail now, we will not let any conspiracy of the BJP succeed."

He thanked Kejriwal for choosing her as the next CM of Delhi. "First of all, I would like to thank Arvind Kejriwal for trusting me and giving me such a big responsibility to serve people of Delhi. I have taken oath as Delhi CM, however, it is a very emotional moment for us as Arvind Kejriwal is no longer CM. He is a person who has changed the image of Delhi in the last 10 years," said Atishi.

Atishi Asks Delhi Voters To Elect Kejriwal Again

With the Assembly polls due early next year, Atishi said the people of the national capital must ensure that Kejriwal becomes the chief minister again claiming that the BJP will halt the welfare schemes launched by the party if he is not elected to the top post.

"We all have to do just one work now- to make Arvind Kejriwal the chief minister of Delhi again. If people don't make Arvind Kejriwal their CM, then BJP will stop the facility of free electricity through conspiracy," she said.

Atishi Takes Oath Along With 5 Cabinet Ministers

Atishi took oath as the new Chief Minister of Delhi on Saturday at the Raj Bhavan, the official residence of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. She is the youngest leader to hold the top post in Delhi. Apart from Atishi, five other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs were also sworn in as ministers.

Atishi replaces Arvind Kejriwal, AAP national convenor, who resigned from the post after being granted bail by the Supreme Court of India in the alleged liquor policy scam case.

Senior leaders of the party including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia were present for the swearing-in ceremony. Atishi's parents Vijay Singh and Tripta Wahi were also present. Atishi is the third woman CM of Delhi, after Sushma Swaraj of the BJP and Sheila Dixit of the Congress.
