The first Test vs Bangladesh is thus Rishabh Pant's first Test match appearance for Team India after 632 days. He was about of action for a long period of time due to injuries suffered after the horrific car accident in December 2022. Pant had earlier made his comeback for Team India in the T20 World Cup 2024, and even made his ODI return in the series against Sri Lanka.

Four days after this match, Rishabh Pant suffered a horrific accident.

Rishabh Pant makes his entry into the playing XI for India in the first Test against Bangladesh in place of Dhruv Jurel. Jurel has to unfortunately miss out on the match, despite showing impressive performances against England in his debut series. In fact, Jurel won the Player of the Match in just his second Test.
