In what turned out to be a tragic turn of events for the Indian music industry, veteran music director Vipin Reshammiya, father of singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya, passed away at 87. He breathed his last on September 18 at 8:30 pm at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after battling age-related health issues.

Close family friend Vanita Thapar confirmed the news to ETimes, sharing her bond with Vipin, whom she considered family. “Yes, he had a breathing problem. He was in Kokilaben and passed away today at 8.30 pm. I am a family friend, more like family. I used to call him papa since the time he was making TV serials. Later, he became a music director, and then Himesh followed in his footsteps. We share a very close bond. Anup Singh, the numerologist, and I were also very close to him.”
Vipin’s last rites will take place on September 19 in Juhu.

Vipin Reshammiya's Work Front
His influence played a key role in Himesh’s musical journey, including a pivotal moment when Salman Khan noticed Himesh’s talent, leading to his big break inPyar Kiya To Darna Kya. Himesh’s father Vipin Reshammiya was a renowned music composer, and he raised him to understand the subtleties of music. Teraa Surroor, The Xpose, and Insaf Ki Jung are all produced by Vipin Reshammiya.
Earlier on the ocassion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Himesh had launched his first bhajan. It is produced by Himesh Reshammiya Devotional, his third record label, and is titled Ganpati Gajaanann. Himesh's father Vipin Reshammiya had composed the devotional track Ganpati Gajaanann, sung by Himesh which signifies the father and son's first-ever collaboration.
