Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have been competing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since it's inception in 2008. But 16 years have passed, the popular franchise are yet to win a trophy in the cash-rich tournament. They have reached the final a total of three times in their history but failed on every occasion. So on the auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi, a die-hard fan's viral video on the internet caught the netizens' attention.
In the video, the RCB fan was carrying a piece of paper, where he wrote the Bengaluru franchises' trademark catch-phrase 'Ee Sala Cup Namde (This year the cup is ours) and kept in front of Lord Ganesha's idol. Like every other RCB fan, this particular fanatic desperately wants to see their team break the jinx and with the kind of performance they've put up, people will naturally look up to God for some hope.
Here's a look at the video :-

In the 2024 edition, RCB were on the verge of securing their maiden IPL trophy. They secured a playoff berth by defeating the Chennai Super Kings in their last group-stage encounter. Under the leadership of Faf du Plessis, the team mounted a solid challenge but was ultimately defeated by the Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator, concluding their run.
Despite the disappointment, RCB supporters continue to stand firmly behind Virat Kohli and the team. Kohli, a key figure for the franchise since its inception in 2008, led the side as captain from 2013 to 2021. During his tenure, RCB reached the IPL playoffs on four occasions, though the championship has remained out of reach. The fans' trust in Kohli and the team's ability fuels optimism at the start of every season.
As they gear up for the IPL 2025 season, RCB are poised to revamp their squad. With the mega auction slated to take place between December this year and February 2025, the team are likely to introduce fresh talent.
