Moradabad: A man on a motorcycle died after a Thar ran over him, dragging him about 50 meters on Sunday in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on the Delhi-Lucknow National Highway. The incident occurred around midnight, when the victim, Aman, was out to buy a cake for his sister. The Thar driver allegedly ran over him and dragged him for some distance, resulting in his death on the spot.

The incident took place near the Loco Shed bridge cut in the Civil Line police station area. According to the police, “The Thar, owned by a mattress trader, dragged the motorcyclist for nearly 50 meters, leaving the bike completely crushed.”

Following the incident, the victim’s father filed a police complaint, alleging intentional murder. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against three unidentified individuals.

"The victim was out to buy a cake for his sister Mahi’s birthday party at Parasnath Plaza; however, the shop was closed. He then decided to go to an outlet in Gandhinagar. On his way, he had an argument with the Thar owner and two of his accomplices. He called his sister to inform her and said, 'Three drunk men in a Thar are fighting with me. I will be late, but I’m coming back with your cake.'

Just as he was about to buy the cake, the same Thar ran over him, killing him on the spot, police said as per the FIR."

The police have detained one person along with the Thar. Further investigation is underway.
