Donald Trump's campaign on Sunday said that gunshots were fired near the former president's golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida. According to local media reports, two people exchanged gunfire outside of Trump International Golf Course. The shooters were not targeting Trump, the New York Post reported, citing sources.
"President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time," said Steven Cheung, Trump Campaign Communications. Reports further added that the Secret Service is responding to the incident.

Donald Trump Jr tweeted that a gun was discovered in the bushes nearby. "An AK-47 was discovered in the bushes, per local law enforcement. The Trump campaign has released a statement confirming former President Trump is safe."
This comes two months after Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt at his rally in Butler Pennsylvania on July 13. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed on the scene.

After the Trump campaign issued a statement, several MAGA supporters theorized if this was another assassination attempt. However, like reports suggest, the former president was not a target.
"Is there another assassination attempt on Trump right before the election? Shots were fired at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, while Trump was golfing there. An AK-47 was found hidden in the bushes, and the suspect fled but was later arrested," one person said on X, platform formerly known as Twitter.
"President Trump is safe and sound after ANOTHER ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT!!! Thank God!!! 🙏 They are trying to kill him!!! They will do anything to stop him from winning," key Trump ally Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted.
