Kamala Harris sat for an interview with ABC News Philadelphia affiliate Action News 6 on Friday. In what was her first solo interview since becoming the presidential nominee, Harris answered questions on a range of different issues in the 10-minute interview.
However, her response to being asked about the inflation issue was not satisfying for many. People on social media alleged that Harris did not make it clear exactly how she planned to control inflation and went on talking about how she was raised in a middle-class family.
Action News 6's Brian Taff asked Harris: "What are one or two specific things you have in mind for bringing down inflation?"
Harris responded: "I grew up a middle-class kid. My mother raised my sister and me. She worked very hard. She was able to finally save up enough money to buy our first house. When I was a teenager. I grew up in a community of hardworking people, you know, construction workers, and nurses and teachers. And I try to explain to some people who may not have had the same experience, you know, if, but a lot of people will relate to this. And that we as Americans have a beautiful character. You know, we have ambitions and aspirations and dreams, but not everyone necessarily has access to the resources that can help them fuel those dreams and ambitions."
The response was not taken well by many, with some calling the Vice President 'clueless.' Here are some of the reactions:
