donald trump was fact-checked on purpose? abc debate moderator linsey davis reveals plan

ABC News' debate moderator Linsey Davis revealed her plan to fact-check former President Donald Trump. This comes after the Republican nominee and his followers accused the network of being biased towards Vice President Kamala Harris – an allegation ABC has already denied. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Davis said her decision was influeced by the July CNN debate, after which President Joe Biden bowed out of the 2024 race.

In the interview, Davis said she wanted to address concerns that Trump's statements could be allowed to remain unchallenged by his opponent or the moderators.

"Davis, wearing pink glasses while speaking to The Times over breakfast at the Ritz Carlton in Philadelphia, said the decision to attempt to correct the candidates was in response to the June 27 CNN debate between Trump and President Biden, whose poor performance led to his exit from the race," the Times reported on Friday.

"People were concerned that statements were allowed to just hang and not [be] disputed by the candidate Biden, at the time, or the moderators," the ABC News anchor on Wednesday.

Immediately after the debate in Philadelphia, the Harris campaign challeged Trump for another round. He declined, announcing 'there will be no third debate'.
