Mumbai: A woman died after a fire broke out on the 9th floor of Opal Apartment in the Mulund area of the city on Friday. The BMC, Mumbai’s civic body, said firefighting operations are underway. The deceased woman was identified as SM Aanandi (68).
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the fire was reported to the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) at 12:24 pm at Opal Apartment near the Sonapur signal on LBS Road in Mulund (West), Mumbai.
Fire officials reached the spot as soon as they received the information and began operations for their dousing operations.
"The fire was confined to the 9th floor of the Gr+upper 16-storey residential building. An elderly woman died in the fire incident. The reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained, " said BMC officials, quoted PTI.
Last week on September 7, three people were injured in a fire at a residential building in Mumbai's Kurla area, an official said. The BMC said people trapped were rescued safely and the fire was brought under control.
