The BCCI on Sunday (September 8) announced the squad for the first Test match against Bangladesh, to be played in Chennai from September 19 to 23. Virat Kohli's return to the squad was the biggest news from the selection meeting. The Indian legend missed the home Test series against England due to personal reasons. He was named in the squad for the first two Tests but missed the complete series.

Rishabh Pant is also back in the Test squad. With them coming back, the selectors had to make some changes in the squad. A total of four players have made their returns while four players have been dropped. Here, we have a look at complete changes in India's squad for the first Test against Bangladesh –

In

Virat Kohli is back in the Test squad along with Rishabh Pant. Rishabh has already played white-ball cricket for Team India since his comeback and is now set to feature in Test cricket. He proved his fitness in the first round of the Duleep Trophy.

KL Rahul is also back in the Test team. He only played one Test match against England before getting ruled out due to an injury. Rahul's place in the final XI remains under cloud.

Yash Dayal has earned his maiden Test call-up. The left-arm pacer was called up to the ODI squad for the series against Bangladesh in 2022 but he was ruled out due to an injury. Yash plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL.

Out

Devdutt Padikkal is among the players who have been dropped. The left-handed batsman made a memorable debut against England in Dharamsala and scored 65 runs in the only innings he played. But with Virat and Rahul coming back, there was no place for Padikkal.

Rajat Patidar struggled in the Test series against England and only managed to score 63 runs in the three Tests he played. His non-exclusion isn't a surprise.

KS Bharat also lost his spot. Bharat had replaced Ishan Kishan for the South Africa tour after he pulled out. He retained his spot against England but got dropped after the second Test. Dhruv Jurel replaced him in the playing XI and played his part in the series win. With Rishabh coming back, Dhruv could be benched against Bangladesh. Mukesh Kumar is the fourth player to lose his spot.
