i expect him to evolve : ex india star reflects on 'legend' virat kohli's 'weakness' ahead of ind vs ban tests

Pragyan Ojha feels that Virat Kohli will have to adjust his batting technique to tackle the challenge posed by left-arm spin bowlers in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. Kohli's recent struggles against left-arm spinners have raised some concerns.

In the last 4 years, Kohli has averaged only 30.2 against left-arm spinners in Test matches. With Bangladesh set to tour India, featuring two left-arm spinners in Shakib Al Hasan and Taijul Islam, it could be a tough challenge for the 28-time Test centurion to add another hundred to his tally.

Ojha discussed Virat Kohli's apparent vulnerability against left-arm spin bowling. Despite this, Ojha voiced his belief in Kohli's capacity to rise above the challenge, pointing to his vast international experience. He is confident that Kohli can modify his approach and make the required adjustments to counter the danger posed by left-arm spinners.

“When you talk about players like Virat Kohli, they’ve played more than a decade of international cricket. There will be a time when there are different challenges, and you’ll need to upgrade yourself. Legends of the game always evolve, and I expect him to evolve,” Ojha told InsideSport.

The 38-year old also emphasized that Kohli has set incredibly high benchmarks for himself, to the point where even a fifty might seem like a letdown. He praised Kohli's relentless dedication to his craft and expressed optimism, believing that it's only a matter of time before the star batter overcomes his recent hurdles, including his difficulties against left-arm spinners.

"Greats have had their challenges and overcame them. I’m very sure Virat will always do that; it’s just a matter of time. Virat has set the benchmark so high that even a 50 or 60 looks like a failure for him. That’s just how he’s contributed to the Indian team. It’s just a phase; the way he trains and his work ethic—it’s just a matter of time (before he comes good)," the former IPL star told.
