Following a tragic incident that occurred on the set of the Kannada film Manada Kadalu, where a light man, Mohan Kumar, lost his life after falling from a height of 30 feet, the Karnataka police has registered an FIR against director Yogaraj Bhat and others in the case.

The tragic event

According to reports, the accident happened on Tuesday at around 5:10 PM in Adakamaranahalli, Bengaluru North taluk, during the ongoing shoot of the film Manada Kadalu that had been underway for the past 15 days.

Mohan Kumar, who was unrolling a light on an aluminium rostrum, fell and sustained severe head injuries.

Despite being rushed to a private hospital in Goraguntepalya, he later succumbed to his injuries. The 30-foot fall has raised concerns about safety measures on film sets, as Mohan Kumar was reportedly working without adequate safety equipment.

FIR registered

Following the incident, an FIR has been registered against director Yograj Bhatt, producer E.K. Krishnappa, manager Suresh and assistant manager Manohar at the Madanayakanahalli police station. The complaint alleges negligence on the part of the film crew for failing to ensure proper safety precautions.

This incident is a grim reminder of previous accidents on film sets such as the electrocution of stuntman Vivek during the shooting of Love You Rachu and the drowning of actors Uday and Anil in Thippagondanahalli Lake during the filming of Masti Gudi.

The death of Mohan Kumar has once again highlighted the urgent need for stricter safety protocols in the film industry.
