As the victims are being treated at a hospital nearby, chilling messages from a student to his mother were revealed. The boy, Ethan, admitted 'he is scared' as a shooter opened fire in the Barrow County School.

An Erin Clark revealed the text message she received from her son at 10:20 AM, shortly before police officers arrived at the scene. The child wrote: "school shooting rn (right now). I'm scared. I'm not joking."

His mother responded saying, she is leaving work. In a heartbreaking response, Ethan wrote: "I love you."

"Love you too baby. Where are you?" Clark said. Her son told her that he was in class and 'someone's dead'.

Erin Clark later revealed that Ethan is a senior at the high school. She works at the Amazon warehouse. With the main road blocked to the school, Clark parked and ran with other parents. Parents were then directed to the football field. Amid the chaos, Clark found Ethan sitting on the bleachers.

Clark said her son was writing an essay in class when he first heard the gunshots. Her son then worked with his classmates to barricade the door and hide.

“I’m so proud of him for doing that,” she said. “He was so brave.”

Students had only started the school year a little over a month ago before the shooting Wednesday.

“It makes me scared to send him back,” she said. “I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
