On this day, women worship Goddess Parvati in her earthly form for unbroken marital bliss and prosperity.

The Hartalika Teej fast is of great significance for married women. But did you know that unmarried girls also observe this fast to find a good life partner? The rules for unmarried girls differ slightly. They can even observe this fast by consuming fruits. Here are sone rules and methods for unmarried girls to observe the Teej fast.

Rules for Hartalika Teej Vrat

While the rules for observing the Hartalika Teej fast are generally the same for both married and unmarried girls, it is important to understand them properly to follow the fast correctly.

Resolve with Devotion: Unmarried girls should begin their fast with a vow taken with full devotion and dedication. The vow should be taken after bathing during the Brahma Muhurta and wearing clean clothes.

Nirjala Vrat: Hartalika Teej is a Nirjala Vrat, meaning the person observing the fast does not consume food or water throughout the day. It is advisable to try and observe the fast according to these rules, but unmarried girls may also observe the fast with Phalahar (fruit diet).

Worship with Full Devotion: Unmarried girls should worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati with full devotion. Place idols or images of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati on a clean platform and offer fruits, flowers, sweets, etc. The first worship of this fast is performed in the evening.

Traditional Attire and Rituals: During the celebration of the Hartalika Teej fast, unmarried girls should wear traditional attire. Married women, along with traditional clothing, should also adorn the sixteen adornments (Solah Shringar).

Prayers for a Good Husband: Unmarried girls observing the fast should pray to Mother Gauri for a good life partner.

Breaking the Fast: The fast should be concluded by worshiping Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva the next morning at dawn.
