19-year-old law student, daughter of nia official, found dead in hostel room

Lucknow: Anika Rastogi, a 19-year-old law student from Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, was found unconscious in her hostel room late last night. Despite being rushed to the hospital, doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Anika, who was in her third year pursuing a BA LLB (Hons), was the daughter of Santosh Rastogi, an IPS officer serving as the Inspector General at the National Investigation Agency (NIA). According to sources, Anika had a history of medical issues since childhood, including undergoing at least three heart surgeries.

The local police have reported that no visible injury marks were found on her body, and the family has not filed any complaint at this time. The preliminary information indicates that her death may be attributed to a cardiac arrest, given her ongoing medical condition.

Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University in a statement said, " It is very sad news that Anika Rastogi, a third-year BA LLB (Hons) student, passed away due to a cardiac arrest at around 10 PM last night. Her untimely demise has cast a shadow of grief over the entire Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University family. The university community stands with Anika Rastogi's family during this period of mourning and prays for the peace of her departed soul."

The university has extended its heartfelt sympathies and support to Anika's family during this period of mourning. Further details regarding the cause of death will be clarified pending a medical examination and investigation.
