Vijayawada: Heavy rains lashed Andhra Pradesh on Saturday throwing life out of gear. Heavy showers led to a landslide in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada. At least one person was killed in the incident, while four others sustained injuries.
After receiving information authorities rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured were shifted to a hospital. Several are feared trapped under the debris of a house damaged due to the landslide.

The district administration declared a holiday for schools on Saturday in the wake of heavy showers.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Andhra Pradesh. Notably, the low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression.
"Continuous light to moderate rains would prevail. Heavy to very heavy rains are most likely today over many districts of Andhra Pradesh," a Met Department official said. The well-marked low-pressure area over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha moved west and northwestwards to intensify into depression by 5:30 am on Saturday, it said.
Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) managing director R Kurmanadh said parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh will receive heavy rainfall.
Amid the heavy rainfall warning, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu ordered all the departments to be on high alert.
