In a massive drug crackdown near Chennai's SRM College, Tambaram police have recovered several grams of Ganja and Hookah items. Over 1000 police personnels conducted a raid at around 500 residences near the SRM College in Kattankulathur. As per the reports and statements by local students, over 50 students of SRM college are detained by the police for questioning.
During the raid, Police also arrested a history-sheeter Selvamani with 2 kg of ganja and four knives. Local police sources are telling that he used to supply Ganja to the students. The special operation was conducted along with the Deputy Commissioners of Tambaram, Pallikaranai and Traffic wing at the ‘Abode Valley’.
Local reports suggest that police have seized 500 gm ganja, six ganja chocolates, 20 ml ganja oil, five bhaang, one smoking pot, seven hookah machines and 6 kg of shisha (hookah powder).
The detained students were taken to a private hall for questioning and an investigation is ongoing. This is said to be the longest raid in the area in respect to drug search.
