'i think that is very hard': max verstappen throws down f1 title challenge to mclaren's lando norris

Lando Norris secured a brilliant victory at the Dutch Grand Prix over reigning Formula One champion Max Verstappen. The McLaren F1 driver reduced Verstappen’s lead at the top by 70 points and has potentially reignited the title race.

Norris secured a pole in the qualification but lost his lead very early in the race to Verstappen. But he didn’t lose his hope and came back brilliantly as he opened a lead of more than 20 seconds over his Dutch counterpart.

Red Bull's Verstappen still is the favourite to defend his F1 title with nine races remaining in the season. McLaren will seek to have a perfect end to the season. Sebastian Vettel went berserk in 2013 when he was undeafeted after the summer break and went on to claim his 4th consecutive F1 title.

If Lando manages to replicate his achievement he could lead himself all the way to his maiden F1 Championship. While talking about the F1 championship, Verstappen believes that results can easily be overturned but it wouldn’t be easy for Norris to have a perfect end to the season.

"You can't just calculate it like that. "I would like to win races.

"It's still nine races and some sprint races, so these kind of things can easily be overturned.

"But I also know that you [Lando Norris would] need to have a perfect end to the season. And that, I think, is very hard."

This season, a driver other than Verstappen has won five straight races, including the Grand Prix on Sunday. This is his longest winless run since 2020. The next on the schedule is the Italian GP which is scheduled to take place next month.
