Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has said that being enthusiastic and having the drive to do something good for cricket are essential qualities for a cricket administrator, something that BCCI secretary Jay Shah has which helped him bag the position of ICC chairman. He added that Shah's efforts have made BCCI a 'pioneer' among all the other boards.
Shah will leave BCCI after a five-year stint, which started in October 2019, to take over as the independent chairman of the International Cricket Council from December 1.
Tendulkar joined several former and current players to extend his wishes to Shah, who will be the youngest ICC chairman in history at the age of 35.

"His endeavours towards prioritising both women’s cricket and men’s cricket have made BCCI a pioneer that other boards can follow," Tendulkar added.
Shah will be the fifth Indian to head the International Cricket Council and the legendary Indian cricketer hoped that he would be able to carry the legacy forward.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who was BCCI president during Shah’s first term wrote, "Congratulations to Jay Shah @JayShah on his new role as ICC chair.. wish him a great journey ahead."

India’s batting mainstay Virat Kohli congratulated Shah for his new role as well. The latter will relinquish his current position of BCCI secretary to succeed incumbent Greg Barclay on December 1 as the youngest ICC Chairman for two years.
Shah said that he would like to work towards setting up a separate program for talent search as well.
