Jay Shah has been selected as the new chairman of the International Cricket Council. The BCI secretary will fill in the boots of Greg Barclay and will assume the charge from December 1.

He was expected to make this leap and will now be the youngest ICC chairman at the age of 36. He will hold the office for three years and will also have the option to extend it for another term.

Jay Shah issued a statement following his selection as the next OC chairman.

Jay Shah’s estimated net worth is to the tune of 124 crore. Business has been the source of his income. He reportedly was a director at Temple Enterprise and also owns a 60 per cent stake in Kusum Finserve.

He has done his engineering and got married to Rishita Patel, his college friend. Born in 1988, Jay Shah also has two daughters. He will be also the fifth Indian after Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar to hold this prestigious post.

Jay Shah’s entrance to BCCI happened in 2015 when he was selected as a member of the Finance and Marketing Committee. He then went on to become the secretary in 2019 and was re-elected three years later.

As he is scheduled to take up the ICC job he has to vacant his seat in BCCI.
