Vikky Varun of Kendasampige and College Kumara fame has announced that his directorial debut venture titled Kaalapatthar is hitting the screens on September 13.
Along with direction, Vikky Varun also plays the lead alongside Dhanya Ramkumar in the film.

Vikky Varun started his career in films as assistant director with renowned filmmakers, Duniya Suri and Yogaraj Bhat before becoming an actor. He shares that his directorial debut film Kaalapatthar has no connection with Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan starrer blockbuster film Kaala Patthar or the mountain in Nepal with the same name.
Despite all the commercial elements, according to its makers the film talks about sensitive issues relating to human behaviour.
Produced by Suresh and Nagaraju of Bhuvan Movies, the Kannada film is shot in various parts of Karnataka and more predominantly in Jainapur village in the Bijapur district.

Uniqueness of Jainapur village
Kashibai Mallappa Desai, who hails from the Bijapur region is the first Indian who purchased the luxurious Rolls Royce during the British regime.
The story behind the car goes like this the DC had asked it for the use of his higher official but Kashibai refused to it saying she would rather use it to dry cow dung cakes.
Furious over it, the registration of the car was canceled and Kashibai stuck to her words and used Rolls Royce to dry cow dung cakes.
Also, the village gets completely submerged during the rainy season and later surfaces in summer. The State Government has made alternative arrangements for the villagers during the rainy season at a nearby village.
Actress Dhanya Ramkumar, daughter of actor Ramkumar and granddaughter of legendary Kannada actor Dr Rajkumar plays the female lead in the film.
Acyuth Kumar, Nagabharana, Sampath of KGF fame and others feature in supporting roles.
