Bangladesh are heading towards a big defeat to India in the first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Tigers had a terrific outing in Pakistan and won the series 2-0. They came to India with high hopes of pulling off an upset but they were given a brutal reality check pretty quickly. Bangladesh left India reeling at 144/6 in the first innings but allowed India to post a score of 376, with Ashwin scoring 113 and Ravindra Jadeja making 86.
With the bat, Jasprit Bumrah was too hot to handle for the Tigers as they folded out for 149. Bangladesh needed big guns like Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Litton Das to help the team compete but they all failed to make any significant impact in the first innings which left Bangladesh way behind in the Test.
Shakib is one of the main players for Bangladesh given his all-round skills and he would be disappointed with how the match went for him. Shakib bowled just eight overs in the first inning and conceded 50 runs. He scored 32 runs with the bat. Shakib would now look to make amends in the second innings and play a good knock to possibly sneak out a draw for Bangladesh.
