2025 yamaha r3 breaks cover with a new design and improved feature

After a long gap, Yamaha has finally updated the R3 motorcycle. The revisions refresh the supersport bike with a new design inspired by the recently updated R9. Changes to the front end of the R3 include an angrier fascia with restyled bodywork. You now get a single headlamp, which replaced the older model's split headlamp design. The new R3's projector headlamp is flanked by sleek LED DRLs that look aggressive and sit right above smart-looking vents similar to what we see on MotoGP racers.

The side flaring also adorns a new look, with small revisions to the rear end. Overall, the motorcycle now exudes a more sportier stance. The features of the new R3 have also gone up. It now comes with a new LCD screen with Bluetooth connectivity. The R3 still doesn't get a colour display, which some of its rivals do. Yamaha says that it has worked on reducing the R3's seat width to make it more comfortable for shorter riders to put their feet down.

Mechanically, the R3 remains identical to its previous version. It is still powered by a 321 cc parallel-twin engine that churns 41.42 hp and 29.5 Nm of peak torque. The six-speed gearbox also gets carried. However, it now has a slip-and-assist clutch, which is a welcome change—suspension components also remain the same as before. At the font, the 2025 R3 continues with a KYB USD setup with adjustable monoshocks at the rear. Stopping power comes from a 298 mm disk brake at the front and a 220 mm disk at the rear.

The new Yamaha R3 has been revealed for the global markets. The brand hasn't announced its arrival on the Indian shores, but we expect the launch to take place soon. For reference, the current version of the R3, which Yamaha sells as a CBU import, retails at Rs 4.65 lakh (ex-showroom).
