16-year-old mumbai girl raped by auto driver, then by 6 techies in chennai

Chennai: A 16-year-old girl from Mumbai was allegedly sexually assaulted first by an auto-rickshaw driver in Puducherry then by six techies in Chennai. After which, the girl was spotted on Beach Road in Puducherry in a weak condition. Currently, the minor girl is under treatment for a personality disorder. The police on Monday arrested the driver, Kaja Mohideen of Kotakuppam in Villupuram district. Later they apprehended three of the six techies from Chennai. A manhunt operation has been launched to nab the other accused.

According to the police, the minor had gone to Puducherry with her family to visit her relatives on Diwali. On October 30 at around 9 pm, the minor had a fight with her mother, and left the relative’s house. She took the auto of Mohideen, and asked her to take to some tourist spots. But he took her to his house at Kottakuppam. He piled her with liquor and then assaulted her sexually, said a report by Times of India.

To get rid of her, he dropped her at Auroville the next morning. The minor was on Serenity Beach when she was spotted by the six techies. They befriended her, and offered her a lift when the girl told them she wanted to visit a friend in Chennai. They assured her that she would drop her at her destination but they took him to the room provided by their office.

They confined her in the room, and fed her liquor. Later, they took turns in sexually assaulting the minor. On November 2, they sent her to Puducherry by a cab that dropped her on Beach Road

Police Followed the Missing Complaint

The Grand Bazaar police, who registered a ‘missing girl’ case on her mother’s complaint, received a tip about a girl loitering on Beach Road and found her. “She was weak and not in a position to explain anything. She was admitted to Jipmer where a child welfare committee team made preliminary inquiries after she recovered. She is under treatment for a personality disorder,” said Jayasankar.

Initial inquiries showed Mohideen assaulted her in a guesthouse before taking her to his house, the inspector said. Police booked Mohideen and the others under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012, and Section 137 of BNS. While Mohideen is in jail, police with the help of CCTV camera footage identify the tourists involved.

A team arrested a man from Andhra Pradesh and two from Odisha and launched a hunt for three others. It was decided not to release names of the arrested until all involved are nabbed.
